These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") govern your use of houghtonhall.com and any pages that link to these Terms (the "Site"). By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Who we are

The Site is owned and operated by Cholmondeley and Houghton Estates Limited (company number 15267860) ("Houghton Hall", "we", "us", or "our"). For how we collect and use personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.

2. Changes to these Terms

We may change, modify, add or remove portions of these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

3. Intellectual Property & Use Restrictions

All content on the Site is owned by or licensed to Houghton Hall and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property rights. You may download one copy for your personal, non‑commercial use only and must keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices. Any other use (including copying, modifying, distributing, performing, displaying or creating derivative works) is prohibited without our prior written permission.

4. User Submissions & Forums

If the Site offers chat areas, bulletin boards, comment functionality or email submission (collectively, "Forums"), you are solely responsible for the content you post. You must not post anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, infringing, promotional/advertising content, or anything containing malicious code. By submitting content, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty‑free licence to use, reproduce, modify, publish, translate, create derivative works from and display such content in any media.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You must not: (a) attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site; (b) interfere with or disrupt the Site; (c) use the Site for any unlawful purpose; (d) use our trade marks or link to the Site without our prior written consent.

6. Ticketing, Bookings & Refunds

While we are unable to provide refunds, we will do our best to accommodate a change of date where possible (typically requiring 48 hours’ notice). In exceptional circumstances we may offer a refund less an administration fee at our discretion.

7. Disclaimers

The Site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non‑infringement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site.

9. Links to Third‑Party Sites

The Site may contain links to third‑party websites and services. We are not responsible for the content, policies or practices of those third parties, and your use of them is at your own risk.

10. Privacy, Cookies & Advertising Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential operations, analytics and—subject to your consent—marketing/advertising (including social media). Full details, including how to manage your preferences, are set out in our Privacy & Cookies Policy.

11. Marketing Communications & Custom Audiences

We may send you marketing emails and SMS where you have opted in. With your explicit consent, we may also use your email address (in hashed form) to create "Custom Audiences" and "Lookalike Audiences" on platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to show you and people with similar interests relevant Houghton Hall content and offers. You can withdraw consent at any time via our preference centre or by contacting us.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site if you materially breach these Terms. Upon termination, all rights granted to you under these Terms will cease immediately and you must destroy any downloaded materials in your possession.

13. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
